Robin Weiss holds a degree in mechanical engineering and was admitted as a German Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney and European Trademark and Design Attorney in 2021.

Legal Practice

Robin Weiss has been working in the field of intellectual property since 2017. After working for renowned patent law firms in Munich, Mr. Weiss joined the law firm Wallinger Ricker Schlotter Tostmann in 2021.

His practice focuses on drafting patent applications and conducting European and German patent prosecution proceedings, conducting patent opposition and appeal proceedings, and preparing patent infringement and FTO opinions. Among other things, Mr. Weiss has special knowledge in the field of software patenting ("computer-implemented inventions").

Due to his residences in the USA, Mexico and France, Mr. Weiss is fluent in English and has a very profound knowledge of Spanish and French.

Technical Background

Mr. Weiss studied general mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the University of North Texas (UNT), USA. 

During his studies and as part of his diploma thesis, he worked on the design and optimization of neurointerfaces, both in vitro and in vivo and was involved in bionics, especially biomimetic product development methods. During his studies, Mr. Weiss worked as a student assistant at Bauhaus Luftfahrt e.V..

Following his diploma thesis, Mr. Weiss conducted research at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at TUM in areas including telemedicine, multi-electrode arrays for neurointerfaces, optimization of cochlear implants, novel neurostimulation methods (including optogenetics), as well as their simulation and medical imaging (µCT, MRI). 

Mr. Weiss' technical expertise includes general mechanical engineering, plastics technology, medical technology, information technology and inventions with artificial intelligence, as well as aeronautical engineering.
