Dr. Albert Bender studied chemistry at the Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen-Nuremberg. His diploma and doctoral thesis were on topics in organic chemistry, in particular rearrangement reactions of bridged carbon compounds. In addition, he also worked on crystallography.
Between 1978 and 2001, Dr. Bender was employed in large-scale chemical industry, particularly in research and development. For the former Hoechst AG, Dr. Bender held various positions and worked in the following fields: optical brighteners, dyes and pigments, pharmaceutical products, crop protection agents, and polycondensates and polymers.
