Johannes Gerber
Johannes Gerber is a polymer chemist. He has significant industrial work experience due to his more than ten years within the Fresenius Medical Care group. Since 2016 Mr. Gerber belongs to the team of WRST.


Parcours technique
Mr. Gerber completed his studies in chemistry at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in 2001. His major field of study was macromolecular chemistry and in his thesis he dealt with the synthesis optical active polymers. In the period from 2001 to 2004 Mr. Gerber was researcher in the field of polymer analytics at the former German Plastic Institute in Darmstadt (which meanwhile is integrated into the Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability). In this function he analysed topological heterogeneous polymer systems by means of hyphenated chromatographic techniques.

Activités juridiques
From 2005 to 2016 Mr. Gerber worked as a patent manager in the patent department of Fresenius Medical Care (FMC). There he was responsible for the patent services in the field of medical engineering for several companies of the group. The focus of his activities involved guiding and supporting the research departments in patent legal matters, as well as representing the respective group’s companies as employers with regard to the German Employee's Inventions Act. Furthermore Mr. Gerber was in charge of FMC’s patent portfolio management in the respective fields, such as membrane development, film development, solution development and mechanical engineering of dialysis and transfusion machines. This function moreover involved as main responsibilities patent prosecution, also at an international level, and the filing of oppositions against third parties’ patent rights.
