Membership and active participation in the most important legal and technology-focused organizations demonstrate WRST's commitment to staying at the cutting edge of intellectual property law and technology.

Another way WRST’s patent attorneys and attorneys-at-law remain fully up-to-date about developments in intellectual property law and technology is through memberships in the leading professional and technical organizations, and by taking an active role in the training and certification programs for scientists to become patent attorneys.

WRST is represented in all relevant professional organizations, in particular:

• German Patent Attorneys' Bar Association (PAK)
• Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi)
• German Bar Association ("Rechtsanwaltskammer")

In addition, the professionals at WRST are members of the following national and international organizations that drive the development of patent case law in both general industrial settings and in specialized areas:

• Association of Intellectual Property Experts (VPP)
• International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI)
• Licensing Executives Society (LES)
• German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR)
• Federal Association of German Patent Attorneys (BDP)
• Association of Bavarian Patent Attorneys (BayPat)
• International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI)
• Association of European Patent Practicioners (APEB)
• European Patent Lawyers Association (EPLAW)
• European Patent Litigators (EPLIT)

Several of WRST’s patent attorneys participate in committees within these organizations and therefore ensure that all members of the WRST team are informed about important new developments in intellectual property law and, in some cases, have the opportunity to influence these developments.

Complementing their presence in IP organizations, WRST’s patent attorneys remain in close contact with their respective areas of technical expertise by being active in key technical and scientific associations, including visiting scientific meetings and making presentations. A sample of such organizations includes:

• Association of German Engineers (VDI)
• German Chemical Society (GDCh)
• American Chemical Society (ACS)
• German Physical Society (DPG)
• European Physical Society (EPS)
• German Life Sciences Organization (VBIO)

Last but not least, WRST is involved in training scientists to become IP specialists and patent attorneys, in particular by being active in the certification process necessary to become German Patent Attorneys and European Patent Attorneys.
